How can we all contribute to saving our environment and cutting down on air pollution?

What You Need to Know:

The air we breathe is sacred. Everyone is impacted by air pollution, and the impacts it has are wide reaching. We all know about the greenhouse effect, and how severely damaging air pollutants are. Pollutants that are released into the air, as opposed to land and water pollutants, are the most harmful. Yet we all know how to stop air pollution in its tracks: sustainable energy alternatives. The answer is simple, we need to stop using fossil fuels and transition into more sustainable and green alternatives. Here are the main examples:

Daily Green World. “The Advantages and Disadvantages of Green Power Energy Resources.” Daily Green World, 12 Jan. 2020, dailygreenworld.com/2020/01/12/building-a-better-world/alternative-energies/the-advantages-and-disadvantages-of-green-power-energy-resources/.

My Response: What Do We Do?

My response to this major problem is multi-faceted, and focuses on 2 main elements: personal and societal.

Personal:

On a personal level, we need to make an effort to switch our main sources of energy from fossil fuels to more sustainable options. Now, I know that is extremely hard to do as a child who is not in control of where their energy comes from or what car they drive. Yet, as kids we can still make a difference. By simply driving in ways that conserve fuel and pushing our parents to make the not only environmental but economical decision to purchase solar panels, we can make a huge difference. There are so many green alternatives we often ignore, ones that can oftentimes save us money. On top of this, a lot of the times people living in poverty think sustainable alternatives are only for the wealthy. In fact, this is completely wrong. In order to make change everyone has to contribute, and purchasing a solar panel actually saves money in the long run. Everyone has to contribute, and this isn’t simply a task for the rich.

Societal:

On a societal level, we need to push our government to enact more green policies. While we can help on a personal level, change truly needs to come from above. We all need to advocate for the government to help save our world.

How Will You Help:

In the comment section down below, please share these 2 things:

  1. How will you help at a personal level? What things will you cut down on or start using?
  2. What do you think we need to do on a personal and societal level in order to overcome climate change?

    1. I will help on a personal level by talking with my parents about buying solar panels and plan to cut down on plastic goods.
    2. I think this is a joint effort. In order to really help overcome climate change, everyone will have to be on board because it has gotten so bad.
