As we all know the COVID-19 pandemic is very stressful! Here are some ways to help decrease your stress and anxiety during this quarantine.
Why I chose this topic:
I chose this project to hopefully inspire people to get out and exercise, at the beginning of the COVID-19 quarantine I found myself very stressed and didn’t know what to do so I started going on walks with my mom. I realized weeks later that I was looking forward to the walks around the neighborhood. I have started exercising more and it has been a great stress relief and I am proud because I know that exercising benefited me.
Going outside and getting exercise is very important for your mental health, if that means go in your backyard and stretch for ten minutes, awesome! Here are some ways I have reduced stress the past couple weeks:
- going on walks around my neighborhood
- following along with yoga on youtube
- exercising with my family
- take a break from all devices for at least an hour everyday
I know exercising may not be everyones thing, if you haven’t tried exercising in the past month, give it a try!
Taking a minute to understand why you are stressed:
Large amounts of stress can lead to many health problems, here are some:
- No motivation to do anything
- Constant worrying
- Not able to focus
You are most likely stressed out because everything your used to and comfortable with just changed! For most people big unplanned changes don’t affect them positively. For me I do not like unplanned change that isn’t for the better. You could also be stressed because you are constantly worrying about how you will do things in the future for example, “Will I go back to school in August?” “How will I graduate?” “Will I have a graduation?” Those were only a couple examples. The constant “what if” thoughts are not healthy for your mental heath! Once you pin point why you are stressed you have to want to get better in order to get better!
I attached a video to help you understand why stressing is not good for your mental health.
We can do this together:
I challenge you to get up and go exercise at least once a day for twenty minutes! You can do it!
