How to Best Start an Adventure Sport?

ADRENALINE JUNKIES: The Extreme Sports Blog for Adventurers

Watch my final video linked below, where I pitch my idea to investors. My main goal for this is to acquire feedback on how I can improve and showcase my idea in a professional manner.

Overview: The purpose of this blog is to share my passion for adventure with you and to guide those of you who want to dive deeper into the broad field of adventure sports. Being an adrenaline junkie and someone who has ventured various extreme sports, like freeride skiing, extreme sailing, windsurfing, scuba diving, and rock climbing, I want to share my passion for adventure. By talking about my personal experiences in adventure sports and publishing different articles on a weekly basis, I’ll eventually create a broad range of information on extreme sports as a whole. This coupled with a subscription service for monthly newsletters and extra content will attract viewers and retain readers.

Distinguishing Features: It’s rather uncommon for teenagers to show excellence in something as unconventional as adventure sports, regardless of their upbringing. I mean this humbly, but not many 15 year-olds have explored challenges with immense danger and a high possibility for injury. People of all audiences will likely admire my accomplishments in this field, and my blog will not only be read for the purpose of guiding those who want to start an adventure sport, but also because I have a compelling story. What makes me even more unique is my origin. Indians aren’t known for their particpation in adventure sports at all, so showing excellence in something exclusive and sharing my passion for it distinguishes me from other bloggers.

Marketing: By socially advertising, I’ll spread awareness about my blog and attract readers. Using social media is an effective way to market, so I plan to combine image/video with words to advertise and gain traffic on Adrenaline Junkies. Sponsored ads on Instagram and Facebook are essential. Another tool that I’ll use is Thunderclap; creating a Thunderclap campaign will attract more blog viewers. Additionally, interviewing an extreme sport athlete on the blog will attract attention and give me a headstart. Advertising this will be very easy, and it will boost my credibility as well. Last but not least, being featured, mentioned, and promoted on popular existing adventure blogs will lead viewers to my blog faster, thereby increasing my revenue from traffic.

Below is a SWOT analysis and the Business Model canvas for Adrenaline Junkies. Businesses make SWOTs all the time to keep reinventing. I chose to make one as part of customer research to pinpoint my strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Using this knowledge, I made changes to my business model canvas and got a clearer understanding of how to start this business. As for the BMC, I’ve broken down my business model into 9 different segments, thereby mapping out a strategy and a path to follow.

SWOT Analysis

ABOUT ME: My name is Aman Kapoor, and I study at the American School of Bombay. From a very young age, I displayed an eagerness toward adventure sports.

It was actually on my first ski trip at the age of eight that I developed an eagerness to adventure sports. After only my first 4 days ever skiing, I found myself racing down one of the steepest black slopes in Saas-Fee, Switzerland. Skiing is rather uncommon in India, so to be able to excel at something so unconventional as an Indian kid was like nothing I’d ever felt before. The thrill I got from being able to successfully ski down a black slope at a high speed is indescribable. Seven years since, and I’ve heli-skied thrice, gone down some of the steepest couloirs, and skied off-piste down runs full of crevasses and rocks. ‚Äč

Off-piste skiing is my main extreme sport, but I enjoy sailing equally as much. At the age of 10, I sailed amidst lightning, thunder and winds of over 10 knots in Sembawang, Singapore, only to find out a day later that crocodiles had been spotted in those very waters. I’ve mastered the optimist, laser, and even handled a catamaran in such stormy weathers and extreme conditions since then. There’s truly nothing quite comparable to the adrenaline rush one feels while sailing. The same goes for diving, water-skiing, and windsurfing in deep, ominous waters.

After building up an arsenal of knowledge about adventure sports, I want to share everything I’ve learnt. Adrenaline Junkies was the perfect way to do so.
