Process and Response

I used the 6-step Design Process to improve my response with the feedback I received from my peers. Below are two versions of how I reached my final response to my question.

Simplified response

Architecture is not only about containment and function, it’s also about empowerment and harmonising, creating a fluid relationship and open interaction between buildings and the natural landscape.

Hey there! I'm Vivian Park

  1. Hello Vivian!
I love the thoughts of different materials here! I didn’t think they’d be such a play in the game but you’re totally right about it all!
    Well done πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you Bren! That means a lot

  2. Hey Vivian!
This project is amazing, I really love the way it all turned out and I really like the way you took this idea and turned it into something special for all to learn about and grasp with their own imaginations. The different materials for this are really nice and I overall really like this project. good job!

    1. I’m glad to hear that Cameron! I think you did great on your project as well. Thank you!

  3. Hi Vivian!
I really liked looking through your designs and seeing how they tackle both the issue of the quarantine during the Covid-19 pandemic and being environmentally sustainable. Your sketches and labels were really helpful in understanding your thought process. I especially liked your treadmill and pedal desks and thought they were extremely creative! Nice work!

    1. Thanks Samantha I’m glad you liked my ideas!

  4. Hi Vivian nice work! I really like all of your innovative ideas for different desk spaces and pandemic-friendly furniture. One feature that I think you could add would be an automatic temperature scanner that sits on a wall and checks students’ temperatures as they into school quickly and without any contact (all you have to do is line up your forehead with the censor on the machine). Also, I’ve been in person all year, fortunately, and another thing my school did was put arrows on the ground and stairs so that traffic in the hallways wouldn’t be as chaotic. Overall great job!

    1. Hi Brecon! Thank you for your comment πŸ™‚ I agree with the temperature scanner and I noticed that I did not include that in my design. (I thought of it at first) My school currently has arrows to guide students in the hallways but I am struggling to make this environmentally friendly because our school is big and this would require lots of ink. But I like the idea! Thanks πŸ™‚

  5. Hi Vivian! I think this idea is super relevant and effective – I like how you have personalized the project to your experience but it is not too niche of any issue because everyone is affected by it. I really liked how you went in a different direction and built upon already existing structures and emphasized how you wanted to improve them/make them effective in the current situation. I also like that you’ve taken in how the classroom environment affects learning. Great job!

    1. Thank you for your comment! I am glad that my idea of renovating an existing space was effective πŸ™‚

  6. The cool projecto mi hombre. One problem I’ve always found with the class furniture is that it’s restrictive in movement. I’m not a person who loves sitting all day on a stiff plastic chair. So I try to spice things up in the way I use them sometimes. Doesn’t always work, sometimes I’ve broken chairs, by accident. I think bean bags would be an awesome replacement if not for the sound. What is your opinion on my awesome comment?

    1. Hey Miles! I like your idea a lot I think that is a great creative use. I would use the beanbags if they were suitable for a learning environment and eco friendly πŸ™‚ Thanks for your comment!

  7. Hi Vivian! Your project addresses two very relevant issues in the world today that need to be addressed. You did a great job designing a way learning can be fun, safe, and have little impact on the environment. Some of the things my school has done to reduce the risk of Covid-19 is having hallways go one-way and having staggered dismissal times at the end of the day. Overall your final product is very impressive and effectively addresses very important issues. Great job!

    1. Thank you Ben! It’s interesting to see what you thought about these world issues. Thanks again!

  8. Great job with your project, Vivian! Not only was the idea behind your project great and considerate, all of your supplemental materials were fantastic. I always anticipated seeing your submissions because they were always incredibly well thought-out. This is no exception.

    Great work!
